Decommissioning and Recycling

Clean, sustainable energy for tomorrow.

1.System Assessment & Decommissioning Planning

  • On-site evaluation of existing PV and BESS infrastructure

  • Risk and safety assessments

  • Customized decommissioning timeline and budget

Our process begins with a detailed on-site evaluation of your current solar and energy storage systems. We assess structural, electrical, and environmental factors to identify any potential risks and ensure safety during decommissioning. Each project is unique, so we develop a customized plan that outlines the sequence of removal, necessary permits, safety protocols, and budget projections. This upfront planning minimizes downtime, controls costs, and ensures compliance with all local and federal regulations—setting the stage for a smooth and responsible system retirement.

2.Professional Removal & Site Restoration

  • Safe disconnection and dismantling of electrical systems

  • Removal of panels, inverters, batteries, and racking systems

  • Site clean-up and preparation for reuse or redevelopment

After planning is complete, MW Energy’s certified team handles all on-site removals with precision. We safely disconnect and dismantle electrical systems, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, and racking. All work follows NEC and OSHA standards to ensure safety and compliance. Components are sorted for recycling or disposal, with special care for hazardous materials. Once equipment is removed, we perform thorough site clean-up and basic restoration, preparing the area for future redevelopment or reuse. Whether it’s a commercial rooftop or a utility-scale field, we ensure your site is left clean, safe, and ready for its next phase.

3.Recycling & Waste Management

  • Certified recycling for solar panels and lithium-ion batteries

  • Responsible handling of hazardous and electronic waste

  • Chain-of-custody documentation for traceability and compliance

MW Energy partners with certified recycling facilities to ensure that decommissioned solar panels, lithium-ion batteries, and electronic components are processed responsibly. We handle hazardous materials—including battery cells, wiring, and e-waste—in full compliance with environmental regulations such as EPA and CalRecycle guidelines. All recyclable materials are sorted and transported under strict protocols, and we provide chain-of-custody documentation to ensure transparency and traceability. This helps our clients meet ESG goals, avoid regulatory risks, and contribute to a circular economy. By prioritizing sustainability, we make sure that your energy systems are retired in the most environmentally responsible way possible.
